What To Do On 30A This Summer
The world is opening back up again, and just in time to hit the beach. If you’re ready to get back out there, 30A has plenty to offer this summer, from 4th of July celebrations to live music to our natural beaches and charming beach towns. There are a number of activities that you can enjoy while you’re here, and the Rental Shop can help with beach bonfire rentals, kayaks, paddle boards, boats, and golf cars. Here are a few of our favorite things to do in the summer:
Stop For Food Trucks and Snack Stands
In between all the kayaking, time at the beach, and generally making the most of the summer, you’re sure to get hungry. Check out some of the food trucks in the area. If you’re an early bird, you might enjoy Charlie’s Donuts, which starts running at 6:30am and stops whenever they run out of food. Meltdown on 30A is the perfect place to get that comforting grilled cheese sandwich with a side of soup. And, of course, Wild Bill’s Beach Dogs is perfect for grub in the middle of a day at the beach.
Check Out a Fishing Tournament
Late June on 30A means it’s time for the Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic at Sandestin. This renowned fishing tournament draws fishing enthusiasts from around the world for this thrilling sports fishing event. Even if you’re not able to compete, you can still check it out in Sandestin from June 23-27 this year. And make sure to check out some of the local businesses that serve as sponsors for the year.
Have a Picnic on the Beach
Lay out a blanket and bring your favorite snacks and your favorite people. There’s little more picturesque than a picnic on the beach. But it doesn’t have to be during the day, either. With a beach bonfire, you can enjoy a peaceful night-time picnic, watching the sunset with your loved ones and keeping warm and well-lit into the evening with your bonfire. Adjacent to a picnic, you might instead opt for a campout sort of night, roasting s'mores over your beach bonfire and telling stories with friends.
Visit the Coastal Dune Lakes
Whether you kayak, boat, or paddle, the coastal dune lakes off Grayton Beach are worth the trip. They’re an extremely rare mixture of freshwater lakes that pour into a saltwater ocean. They’re also an excellent place to see lush and unique flora and fauna, so if you opt for that option, make sure you bring a camera to save and share some of those memories.
