What To Do On a Rainy Day on 30A

What To Do On a Rainy Day on 30A

At The Rental Shop, we of course love bright sunny days that make up the majority of the weather on 30A. Those warm, dry days are perfect for taking a kayak or paddleboard out on the water, for hosting a beach bonfire in the evening, or spending a day on the golf course. But it’s not all sunshine and clear skies, even on 30A. So what do you do when your vacation plans are waylaid by a rainy day? Here are a few of our favorite remedies:

Have a Shopping Day

Can’t go to the beach because of the rainy weather? Consider instead going shopping for souvenirs. From beachside boutiques to outlet malls, you’ll find plenty of shopping opportunities on 30A. You can find the latest fashions, new electronics to entertain yourself on rainy days, or find the perfect souvenir to bring home to a loved one who missed the trip or keep as a memento. We recommend the Silver Sands Outlet Mall in Sandestin, The Barefoot Princess in Watercolor, or Duckies Shop of Fun in Seaside.

Go Out For Drinks

If you don’t have kids to worry about, a rainy day could be a good time to go check out the local bars and clubs. This will give you a chance to cut loose on your vacation without getting soaked in the rain. Even if you still need to keep things family friendly, a rainy day could mean finding a new favorite restaurant where there’s something for everyone. Consider Bud & Alley’s Pizza Bar, Nanbu Noodle Bar, La Cocina, or George’s at Alys Beach.

Make — Or View — Some Art

Rainy days may mean you don’t get to go to the beach, but they can also spark inspiration in some. Why not follow that inspiration to an art class where you can create something to remember this rainy day? The Shard Shop is a local favorite, taking shards and making them into works of art. If you’re more in the mood to see art than you are to make it, consider touring an art gallery, like Mary Hong Art Gallery or Clint Eager Design.

Visit Gulf World Marine Park

Sea lions, penguins, and sting rays, oh my! You can find them all and more at Gulf World Marine Park, which stays open rain or shine, with plenty of indoor exhibits that you can enjoy on rainy days. This is a way to keep the kids engaged on a rainy day, as well, and it may be as educational as it is fun!

There are plenty of ways to keep yourself entertained on 30A even on rainy days. And when the sun does come out again, The Rental Shop 30A has you covered with all the rentals you might need to get back to your fun in the sun.
